Born in 1981 in Bagdad, Iraq. is the son of Farida Mohamed Ali,the renowned Iraqi Maqam singer. He started his career under guidance of his uncle Jamil Al-Asadi when he was 14 years old. At the age of 16 he already played with the famous ensemble Funun Al Jamila. Since 1999 he lives in Holland and plays with several Arab ensembles like the Iraqi Maqam ensemble and Al Kindi. He also plays jazz in the Orient Express. Latif is developing into one of the most important Arab percussionist in Europe and a very special oudplayer. He is also inspired by the music of Munir Bashir and started to play the oud in his style a few years ago. For more information visit me on
