Born in 1969 in Bagdad, Iraq. studied qanoun and
Arab music at The institute for Iraqi Music in
Bagdad. Next to
his work as a musician and
qanoun teacher, He studied violin and western
music at the Collage for Fine Arts. With Al
Beariq his career turned international with
concerts all over the world. He is a many-sided
musician, who has an open mind for all kinds of
musical influences. In fact he has never stepped
aside for any experiment, he played Turkish,
Greek, Uygur, jazz and Bach. He developed his
own style to play the qanoun, making it sound
like a harp sometimes, when he plays without the
two plectra. He was the leader of several Arab
Ensembles in Holland and Belgium. For more
